Abstract: Lac de Louvie is a high alpine artificial reservoir located at an altitude of 2214 masl that stores 450’000 m3 of water to meet the drinking water, irrigation and snowmaking needs of the Val de Bagnes municipality, located in Valais, Switzerland (Fig 1). Its watershed, with a surface area of about 8 km2, extends up to 3320 masl with no glacier cover. At the end of summer 2022, the lake level began to fall alarmingly, threatening the winter reserves. The need arose to better understand the behaviour of the Lac de Louvie watershed, to be able to forecast lake inflows and to predict climate change consequences on the watershed’s hydrology and water usage.
