Abstract: Setun is a small river of the Moscow agglomeration. River basin is highly urbanized, which affects the water regime and the regime of suspended sediments. The aim of the work was to study the characteristics of suspended sediments of the Setun River based on high-frequency monitoring. A series of installations of the LISST-200X particle size analyzer was made in the riverbed with a measurement discreteness of 10 seconds. Short (from 13 to 95 minutes) significant increases in the concentration of suspended sediments (up to 6 times) were detected. It was found out that these are the results of discharges of polluted waters. During the increases, it was possible to record the phenomenon of hydraulic sorting of sediments in the stream: first, smaller particles passed, then larger ones. The need for high-frequency monitoring of the state of rivers with urbanized watersheds was justified.
