Abstract: The Mojanda lagoon system, located in the high-altitude páramo ecosystem of Ecuador, serves as a critical hydrological and ecological reservoir, supporting local communities, biodiversity, and sustainable water management initiatives. However, climate variability, land-use changes, and anthropogenic activities are disrupting the natural heat and mass transport dynamics, leading to significant concerns regarding water quality degradation, sediment resuspension, and chemical imbalances. Understanding the interaction between hydrodynamic flow, temperature gradients, and contaminant dispersion in shallow lake systems is essential for predicting water quality trends and designing conservation strategies. This study aims to quantify the transport processes governing water quality in Mojanda, focusing on the balance equation in the system (1), using hydrodynamic modeling, geospatial analysis, and in-situ water quality assessments.
