Abstract: In this paper a 2D numerical model for the computation of the nonlinear interactions of water waves and fixed large-volume bodies is described. The model works in the time domain and is based on the the boundary integral equation method (BIEM) with internal generation of the incident waves and absorption of all outgoing waves (internal generated as well as reflected). This procedure makes is possible to simulate long time series of nonlinear wave forces even in case of irregular waves. Drift forces can be extracted from the time series by filtering. In the paper a computed steady drift force is compared with the analytic 2D drift force, but it should be noted that the method is not restricted to 2D bodies and waves.
