Abstract: The mixing mechanism of suspended sediment at the river confluence is difficult to interpret due to the complex flow conditions caused by the incoming flows of the main stream and tributaries. Moreover, suspended sediment, unlike dissolved pollutants, has settling properties, so it shows different characteristics from the mixing characteristics of dissolved pollutants. Although research results on the mixing coefficient of dissolved pollutants have been published through tracer experiments, research on the mixing behavior of suspended sediment at the river confluence is very insufficient. To determine the dispersion characteristics of suspended sediment at the river confluence, high-resolution spatial data of suspended sediment concentration are required, but it is very difficult to obtain such high-resolution data using traditional measurement.
