Summary, Abstracts and Slides: 2nd International Symposium on Water Systems Operations (ISWSO2020)

On the 2nd and 3rd of September 2021, the 2nd International Symposium on Water System Operations of the IAHR Water System Operations Working Group was successfully held. The symposium was organized by the University of Bristol and the GW4 Water Security Alliance in the UK. The symposium was originally planned for the Summer 2020 but, due to the Cover-19 pandemic, it was postponed to September 2021 and was held as an on-line event, comprising a mix of invited talks and interactive sessions where participants presented and discussed their current research.

Thursday 2nd of September was dedicated to“Sensing and modelling for urban and agricultural management”. The day started with two invited talks by:

The online webinar was attended online by over 100 participants, and followed by a lively Q&A session moderated by the Symposium Chair, Dr Francesca Pianosi from the University of Bristol. Later in the afternoon, a Zoom-based interactive session was held, where participants had the opportunity to present their current work in 2-minutes presentations supported by 1 slide, followed by 45 minutes discussion in breakout rooms. Dr Andres Peñuela-Fernandez (University of Bristol – University of Cordoba) moderated the session. 

On Friday 3rd of September, talks and sessions were dedicated to “Modelling for integrated water resource management, tradeoffs and uncertainty”. The two invited talks that started the day were delivered by:
