Ingrid Silva is civil engineer with PhD in soil mechanics. Her research subject was internal erosion in embankment dams and today works as Dam safety specialist in the consulting company Sweco in Stockholm, Sweden. Member of the IAHR since 2019 and from 2022 co-organizes the project women voices of the IAHR. Passionate about multidisciplinary projects involving the eco-friendly design, construction and surveillance of geotechnical structures related to water resources and renewable energy.

The main interest is that related to embankment dams: instrumentation, design, internal erosion, sedimentation and in general any issue related to dams.

Major Achievements:

There was a moment in my career that made me feel very happy, professionally satisfied and fully motivate to keep working in dams and hydropower. That moment was at the first water filling of the hydropower dam in which me and a group of specialist worked on for over two years (from basic design until construction and operation). That was a very nervous but memorable date in my career. That moment motivated enough to look after my current PhD research (Dams and dams safety in relation to internal erosion).
