I am a Civil Engineer with a specialization in Water and Environmental Engineering. I work as an Associate Professor of Civil and Humanitarian Engineering at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. Before that, I was a Senior Lecturer of Water and Environmental Engineering at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. Over the last 14 years, I have had several roles and responsibilities in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. In these roles, I built expertise in training, research, leadership, and policy formulation within Universities, training institutes, civil societies, and local communities. My themes of interest are water, sanitation, environmental management, and gender advocacy. I have published research papers and made presentations at conferences and workshops. In my academic roles, I have led modules, designed curriculum, introduced WASH content into existing modules, prepared learning materials, and taught and assessed different categories of learners (undergraduate and postgraduate students, professionals; youth and community groups). I also organised seminars, workshops, and conferences for the different learning cohorts. I got my Ph.D. from the University of Warwick as a Commonwealth scholar. On my return to Nigeria in 2016, I became the Publicity Secretary of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, Ilorin Chapter. In that capacity, I led teams to strategise and publicise 12 programmes of the association annually and enhanced participation by members and stakeholders. I also maintained relationships with major donors, identified new potential donors, and managed existing relationships. In 2018, I became the branch's Vice-Chairperson and ensured the association's efficient operation; implemented and oversaw 40 capacity development, social and gender-inclusive initiatives for over 2000 students and professionals.
