Abstract: The committee on Education and Training held in London on the occasion of the 26th congress of IAHR resolved that the section activities are focused to 1) Setting up of educational guideline for future hydraulic engineers, 2) Actual initiation of the IAHR European graduate school of hydraulics, and 3) Enhancement of linkage with regional divisions. This seminar is planned to realize these objectives. Sessions 1 and 2 of the Seminar (Numbering of the session corresponds to the program shown above.) are directly related with two items of the section activities. Demands for university education in hydraulic engineering are explained by practicing engineers from African and Asian regions in Session 3 . Session 4 introduces experiences and proposal for continuing education. Session 5 is a joint activity with the Section on Fluvial Hydraulics on education in sedimentation engineering. Summaries of papers classified into these sessions are given below.
