Abstract: Pump scheduling is among the most efficient strategies to increase the energy efficiency of water systems. The search for the best operation of pumping systems can be crucial to address the containment of energy consumptions, as well as the operational costs related to water supply and distribution. This study proposes an optimization procedure for minimizing the energy requirements of three pumps working in parallel within a water network, relying on a mixed-integer nonlinear programming and the use of a global optimization solver. The procedure is applied to a literature synthetic network and the results are discussed and compared with previous research achievements on the same case study network.
