Abstract: This study proposes ways to increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in urban water sectors (i. e., water and wastewater treatment, water intake and distribution, etc). First, starting with the establishment of a database including water-energy consumption and carbon emissions according to urban water cycle, the status of the target city was identified. To accurately estimate the energy consumption and carbon emissions in water sectors, a calculation model for water-energy consumption and carbon emissions is proposed. In consideration of population and social changes, a future water-energy consumption scenario is established and applied to the model to suggest ways to increase energy efficiency. In addition, visualization services using Sankey diagrams and GIS mapping, which would provide clear understanding of water-energy consumption and carbon emissions in target city, are provided. Finally, the proposed methodology facilitates a comprehensive review and evaluation of water-energy consumption and carbon emissions in the target city, suggesting improvements for sustainable urban water management.
