Abstract: TPF is currently executing a contract for the Alvor Hydro-Agricultural Scheme Modernization Project. In the Terms of Reference (ToR) of this contract, in a diagnostic context, it is stated that if "there is or will be in the short term a large increase in the demand for water for the irrigation of agricultural land within the area of AH Alvor or in land adjacent to it, the current availability of water will not be sufficient to meet such an increase " as well as that, ". .. the reduction in inflows that has occurred in the last decade raises doubt on whether the current extension of the perimeter is appropriate, since the limitations of water availability have not allowed the full use of irrigation in a sustained manner. " These ToR establish the need to identify water sources to reinforce water availability for irrigation and, among other possibilities, consider the Water for Reuse (WfR) produced at the Companheira WWTP, characterize the potential users (e. g. golf courses) and outline a technical solution to allow the use and deliver the WfR.
