Abstract: Urban wastewater infrastructures are facing increasing challenges due to variations in precipitation patterns induced by climate change, impacting the frequency and intensity of extreme hydrological events. This work presents the Smart Infiltration/Inflow Management System (SiiMS), a digitization tool whose main objective is to locate and quantify inflow and infiltrations (I/I) in combined sewer networks (CSNs). By processing real-time sensor data and integrating AI-based, numerical, and hybrid models, the SiiMS addresses the growing concern about the impact of climate change on wastewater systems. Early results achieved by the implementation of the SiiMS in two real European pilots highlight the promising usefulness in both detection and quantification of I/I and prediction of overflows in CSNs.
