Abstract: Over the past two decades, the Group Water Scheme (GWS) sector in the Republic of Ireland has undergone significant changes by moving beyond providing water access and equity to rural consumers to become a leading example of best practices in drinking water provision. This transformation has been achieved through a range of policies and measures to address water leakages, water quality and demand, and conservation; however, the scale of this reduction and its implications on the sector have not yet been adequately assessed. This study uses a structured online survey questionnaire to examine the impact of water conservation initiatives implemented by GWS and underscores the critical role of accurate data collection and the need for GWS to adopt long-term initiatives to enhance water quality and access.
