Abstract: Water security has an important impact on regional economic and social development and is the basis for ensuring regional sustainable development. In this paper, a water security evaluation index system is established by selecting 20 indexes and using the entropy weight method to determine the weight coefficient, and a multi index matter-element evaluation model is established based on the entropy weight method. Then, the water security status of Ordos City in 2019 and 2025 is evaluated through the model. Results showed that the water security status of Ordos City in 2019 and 2025 does not reach the assessment level, but both have the conditions to convert to the assessment level. The conditions to convert to safety in 2019 and very safe in 2025. The water security situation in Ordos City shows a good development trend, which is closely related to the rapid economic development, urban and rural water supply security construction, water resources and water security management, and the enhancement of water ecological environment governance. It provides a basis for the compilation of the 14th Five Year Plan for water security safeguarding, and is of great significance to ensure local water security and realize the coordinated development of water and economy and society.
