Abstract: The TGS, a giant hydropower station in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, was used as an example to analyze the generating operation for twenty years after all upstream hydropower stations have been completed and put into operation in recent years. A detailed analysis, evaluation and summary of the actual operation status of the TGS in the past twenty years is further presented in this paper. The operating conditions of different sub-factories and units in the TGS under different water heads were calculated. For the first time, the impact of grid and hydropower station dispatch regulations and preferences on cell operation was analyzed. The recommendations were provided for the operation of the TGS units during different scheduling time periods and for the exploration of optimized operation and upgrade renovation of the hydropower units and hydropower station, which can provide a strong reference for the actual scheduling and operation in the future, and assist the TGS in improving the efficient utilization of hydropower and water resources, and optimize the scheduling and operation of the hydropower station.
