Abstract:

Urban Nature-based Solutions (NbS) are receiving an increased interest by city planners for their ability to provide a synchronous response to multiple socio-environmental challenges, such as flood risk, erosion, urban heat, water scarcity, poor water quality and biodiversity loss. NbS can be integrated with grey infrastructure –or in some cases replace it– reducing in this way the need for costly, carbon-intensive traditional water engineering systems.
