Abstract: Following the 10 th International Symposium on Hydraulic Structures and a technical excursion, the 9 th International Junior Researcher and Engineer Workshop on Hydraulic Structures (IJREWHS 2024) took place on June 20,2024, at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. This workshop series, which began with the fi rst edition in Portugal in 2006, provides a platform for young researchers and engineers to exchange ideas on current topics in hydraulic structure engineering. The IJREWHS 2024 focused on hydraulic structure designs, such as weirs, spillways and hydropower tunnels, as well as sediment transport and fi sh continuity. Additionally, new methodological developments were presented, addressing future challenges such as climate change and fl ooding. The workshop off ered an opportunity for young researchers and engineers -- typically PhD students, but also early-career professionals, public authorities, and industry -- to present their ideas, research plans, and preliminary fi ndings in an open, collaborative, and inspiring environment.
