Abstract: A computational component to the MULTSED model was developed to simulate the physical processes involved in runoff from a rain-on-snow condition. This component improves the MULTSED model to estimate water and sediment yields from watersheds, taking into account not only the rainfall but also the snowfall and snowmelt. In developing this component the Bureau of Reclamation's procedure, which uses a water budget based on the concept of snow compaction and a threshold density, was utilized. The improved MULTSED model was then applied to the computation of water and sediment runoff from a watershed in the north-eastern Pakistan.
