Abstract: In this experiment the diversion characteristics and sediment deposition problems in diversion channel have been studied, under the condition of water intake transversely from the wide-shallow open channel without intake gate. The test results indicate that the backflow will occur in diversion channel, in which sediment entering into the channel deposits heavily, that affects on normal water intake. This study has the referenced value for similar projects and provide experimental data for verification of mathematical model.
