Abstract: When a mud-debris flow collides with an obstacle, the mechanism of pressure occurence was evaluated for cases in which the mud-debris flow is regarded as a non-compressible fluid or a compressible fluid respectively. In a non-compressible fluid, an equation of the fluid motion describes an equilibrium state between the pressure and the potential rate only. The impact pressure can be estimated by numerical methods depending on the potential rate due to characteristics of the material and it's kinetic properties. In a compressible fluid, the force is calculated by the density, impact velocity, and propagation velocity of pressure in the fluid.
