Abstract: On land sewage disposal is comonly used technique of waste management.(1,2,3,4,)The developed countries have specific regulation and guidelines toensure that such disposal does not cause any envirormental hazard.Unfortunatelymost developing countries such as India have yet to evolve mandatory regulationsin this regard.Waste water is routinely disposed into rivers lakes or land.Themain danger of such practices is the contamination of water sources. In contrastto disposal in rivers or lakes,it is much more camplicated to predict the effecton the quality of ground water. Most cities also have industrial units furtherincreasing the risk of contamination with toxic pollutants.
