Abstract: The Gas bubble turbulent flow is an important two -- phase flow pattern in environmental engineering, which has relations with blowouts of subsea gas -- containing hydrocatbon wells and some other man -- caused environmental disasters. In order to control and reduce the envi ronmental pollutions, it is the desire to understand the hydrodynamics of gas bubble plumes. The gas bubble dynamics is combined with equations for particle -- fluid two phase turbulent flows in this paper to propose the k -- ε equations for the numerical prediction of gas bubble plumes under particular circumstances, the finite difference algorithm for parabolic type equations by Patankar -- Spalding is employed for numerical predictions, the experimental date of the air -- bubble plume by Kobus is used for the verification of the proposed model, and the numerical results is analyzed.
