Abstract: This version o f the ra tiona l method, carried out for the Highwa ys Administration of Spain, has been tested in numerous and different natural watersheds and it has a wide range of application reaching drainage areas of3.000 Km～2. The laws of runoff and of uniformity coefficients are the most interesting aspects of it. It is also drawn the attention to the formula for estimating the time of concentration which provides higher values than the common used ones and it has repercussions on the peak discharge estima tes.
