Abstract: The Tanana River near Fairbanks,Alaska is an irregular multi-channel stream intransition between a fully braided and a meandering system.Research studies wereconducted in the 1980s inconnection with a flood control project,by the U.S.Corps ofEngineers and the U.S.Geological Survey with participation by Northwest HydraulicConsultants.Details are contained in reports by Burrows and Harrold 1983,Neillet al1984,and Collins 1990.Selected aspects have been covered in papers by Gatto 1983,Neill 1983 and Neill 1987.
