Abstract: Flood wave runoff tests were carried out on a physical model of a flood detention basin to simulate flood wave runoff and reservoir filling processes. They were to provide information whether the presently used numerical models are sufficient to master this problem or whether a correction procedure is necessary. Natural flood waves as well as statistically generated waves were used as input waves. The output waves were the result on the base of the discharge capacity characteristics of the outlet works (bottom outlet and spillway).
