Abstract: An equilibrated river(or"graded stream"as it is often called by geomorphologists)is a riverthat keeps constant its hydraulic, geometric and sedimentological characteristics, averaged over arelatively long period of time.According to JH.Mackin(1948),"a graded stream is one in which, over a period of years, slope is delicately adjusted to provide, with available discharge and withprevailing channel characteristics, just the velocity required for a transportation of the load suppliedfrom the drainage basin".
