Recirculating Flow of a Spurdike with Sidcslopes

Abstract: An experiment at test in open channel with rectangular section was made to study the flow around the spurdike with sideslopes frequently appearing in river engineering. The results show that the sidcslope has an obvious influence on downstream and upstream recirculating zones of a spurdike. From the momentum conservation equation, the expressions are obtained to calculate the length and them axim um wiath of downstream recirculation zone of a spurdike. The calculated results arc in good agreement with experim ental test.
