Abstract: This study deals with the tests carried out on a 1:30 Froude scale model of a flood relief structure to be constructed at Zouch as an integral part of the Soar Valley Improvement Scheme. The hydraulic performance of the existing weirs and the now flood relief channel contro lled by a radial automatic gate were investigated. This included the stage-discharge curve for the existing weirs, the calibration of the existing we irs together with the new flood relief channel and the determ ination of openings of the radial gate for various discharges in order to main tain the required down stream and up stream water level elevations for navigation purposes in the River Soar.
