Abstract: This paper describes the importance of the underwater vegetation in Danish stream s and some of the consequences of vegetation maintenance. The influence of the weed on the hydraulic conditions is studied through experiments in a smaller stream and the effect of cutting channels through the weed is measured. A method for prediction of the Manning's n as a function of the discharge conditions is suggested, and also a working hypothesis for predictions of the effect of channel cutting is presented.
