Abstract: The quantification of resistance to flow in a natural channel is of importanceto river engineers for design purposes and when making operating decisions based onestimates of the channel conveyance capacity. The partitioning of_the flowresistance into skin friction and form drag is important when quantifying flowresistance during both open water and ice covered conditions.
