Abstract: An efficient wave ray model is proposed for the computation of directional spectrum transformation due to combined current and depth refraction effects. Formulation of the governing equations for ray path and spectral transformation, and also numerical analysis on the change of frequency and directional spectra of the waves propagating on a uniform current in sloping sea bed were made. An extensive field measurements and numerical analysis were carried for the study of irregular wave transformation in a tidal inlet with complex hydrograph and currents. Comparison between the calculated and field results shows quite good agreement.
