Abstract: In the paper, writers discuss the instability phenomena of river flow downstream a mouth due to breaking wave action, occourring during laboratory tests. The purpose of the experiments was to determine the critical stability conditions of the river current, i. e. the minimum value of the flow rate corresponding to the end of the instability phenomena. An analysis of the results of the tests as well as a representation of them in dimensionless form is provided.
