Abstract: The increase in head loss in a pipe above the limit of deposition has been investigated. The volumetric sediment concentration and the flow velocity were kept low in order to simulate the conditions in a storm sewer. The test conducted on an experimental rig showed that the increase in head loss is distinct for smooth and rough pipes with each type having a clearly defined value. Comparison was also made with Durand's equation and it was found that his equation can be made applicable for flow above limit of deposition provided the coefficient K_D is changed.
