Abstract: The deterministic mathematical modelling of groundwater is a very utilized tool in theplanification and management of the exploitation of this resourse. The methodology employed inthese models consists in segmenting the simulated aquifer and solving the flow equation using finitediferences or finite elements,in which each cell is assigned the values of the characteristicparameters of the aquifer: The assignation of these parameters to the model always represents a difficut task whichrcquires experience because the information availableis usually limitedand subject to uncertaintyand,in addition, the parameters of the aquifer have a strong spatial variability.
