Abstract: The similitude between the tracer's diffusion circular jet (physical model) and that of a polluting effluent (prototype) in a receiving stream has been studied with the help of a numerical model developed by the author and sup-ported by field measurements at the site. The principle for establishing the e-quation of global similitude has been presented. The diffusion jet of the physi-cal model and that of the prototype must be sufficient in similitude in order to predict the effluent concentration from measurements by tracer scattering.
