Abstract: The hydraulic jump in a trapezoidal channel may be stabilised by a transverse sill. This paper aims at describing the flow features of the sill-controlled dissipator and presents a limited set of experimental data pertaining to basins of relatively high inflow Froude number. The main quantities of interest may be demonstrated to depend on the so-called sill parameter, which includes the ratio of sill height and sill distance from the toe, times the inflow Froude number.
