Hydraulics of the Head of a Turbidity Current

Abstract: Laboratory experiments are reported on the motion of the head of turbidity currents (TC) travelling on slopes of 0.57°≤Θ≤2.1° (Fi g. 1). It is found that the head velocity remains reasonably constant with the distance (Fig. 2). The dimensionless head velocity is found to be dependent upon the slope (Fig. 3).
