Abstract: In order to predict the density dependent inflow behavior of a river entering a lake, a finite elem ent model is presented calculating the flow and density fie ld in the axial x-z-plane of th e inflow region. The m ode l is applied to the River Lo isach ente ring the Bavarian Lake of Koche l. The results are compared w ith measurements.
