Prediction of Flows Through Tube Bundles with Bypass Lanes

Abstract: Flows in tube bundles with bypass lanes are predicted for cases both with and without sealing strips in the lane. The bundle is modelled as a porous medium and the equations of motion are solved using a finite volume method. Good agreement between predictions and measurements is demonstrated. Some results of parametric studies of sealing strip performance are presented.
