Abstract: Production mechanism of turbulence-induced secondary currents nearthe side wall in straight open channel flows was investigated by using the longitudinal vorticity equation. By simulating the distributions of productionterm (▲w-v2) from experimental values, the equation was solved numerically andthen the calculated results agreed well with the experimental ones.
