Abstract: At present a large amount of dredging is required to maintain the navigation in the Upper Reaches of the Manchester Ship Canal. Due to declining traffic one of the options that has been considered is how this dredging might be reduced while maintaining the land-d rainage function of the Canal. A numerical model study investigation is described, in which a number of Dossible options were tested.
