Abstract: For the flow in a harbour with a net transport through the entrance superposition of the eddy flow in the harbour and the net flow is not just-ified. Assumption of an entrainment in the mixing layer that is independent on the net flow gives better results. This has consequences for the exchange of water between harbour and river and so for the siltation of the harbour.
