Abstract: The question concerning the scope of computational hydraulics is posed within the social context. New areas of applications, changes in institutional structures and new encapsulations of hydraulic knowledge are identified. Beneath these, an aesthetic level is discerned, at which the ultimate driving forces for development are originated.
