Abstract: Pressure fluctuations induced by hydraulic jump may generate cavitation in spillway piers. A Froudian hydraulic model with an instantaneous pressure measurement system and spectral data analysis allows the verification of pier design, and the evaluation of the possibility of aeration in large specific discharge spillways.
