Abstract: Aeration slots, ramps, or steps are becoming common fixtures in high velocity spillway and outlet chutes. The air dragging mechanism being so com-plex, experimental analysis is unavoidable in designing such devices. Scale effects are knowingly the main drawback of model studies of aeration phenome-na. Dimensional analysis is very helpful in detecting the main causes of model distortions.
