Abstract: River plumes over the surrounding sea water are characterized by the three-dimensional structure, which is mainly attributed to the pressure gradi-ent arising from the density difference. In order to examine their spreading properties, a three-dimensional numerical model is developed. A model predic-tion is compared with an infrared image of the waters taken from the satellite.
