Head Loss Through Circular Hinge D Flap Gates

Abstract: Design curves for assessment of hydraulic head losses through simple, single hinged, circular flap gates are given. These are the result of a programme of experimental study at small scale. For a gate of given size the head loss is found only to be a function of flow rate and self weight when the gate is subject to tail water surcharge, representin g a usual design criterion.
