Abstract: Drag reduction caused by soluble polymer leads to a reduction of the turbulent skin friction. This effect can be used to increase the discharge of a sewer system to prevent flooding during periods of heavy rainfall. Compared with the costs for a new sewer system, a polymer dosing system would be economic. Therefore the drag reducing properties of a polyacrylamide in a sewer were studied.
