Abstract: Comparison of the kinematic wave and rational methods were made on the basis of unit peak discharge against a topographic parameter. The comparison showed that the former method can become a useful tool for site drainage design which has the capabilities to estimate peak discharge directly and to evaluate the effects of surface roughness and abstraction losses independently.
